Preventing biofilms in space
Description
A team of researchers from MIT and the University of Colorado sent a set of samples of different materials and surface treatments to the International Space Station, to test ways of preventing biofilms of bacteria from forming that can clog plumbing and make astronauts sick. When the samples were returned to Earth, they showed that one kind of treatment was very successful in blocking the films. (Learn more: )
