Description

NASA's Artemis program continues to make great strides toward landing the first woman and next man on the lunar surface. Progress continues on Artemis I, the first integrated test of the Orion spacecraft, Space Launch System (SLS) rocket and the ground systems at Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida. Artemis II core stage work at Michoud Assembly Facility and welding on the Artemis II Orion stage adapter panel at Marshall Space Flight Center continued. Orion Program progress included the move of the Orion Artemis II crew module to the clean room at Kennedy Space Center, the fairing jettison test completion in Littleton, CO, and the completion of the structural test article testing for Artemis I. The Artemis I aft skirt was delivered to NASA’s Exploration Ground Systems team and moved to the rotation processing and surge facility. NASA’s Associate Administrator for Human Exploration, Kathy Lueders, toured Artemis hardware. Lastly, the Artemis I Launch Vehicle Stage Adapter was offloaded, Artemis I Booster segments were transported, Artemis I booster segment was uncapped, and the team began Artemis I booster segment lift and mate pinning. We’re charting the course for sustainable human space exploration and persevering on our journey deeper into the cosmos!
